Bye, Bye, Binkie

A good note--for three weeks now Jack has been off the binkie---aka, the plug, the pacie, puggie. Binkies are like crack for babies--it's hard to get them off of them.

We never thought we'd use one, but puggie saved us many tears (from Jack and us) the first four+ months. I think pacifiers can be very good for babies, giving them the security and sucking that they really do need, but can become a crutch for both parents and babies.

We gave him one the other night to see what he'd do. He immediately took it out of his mouth, examined it and started chewing on its side. When it proved to not be as soothing to his new teeth as his teethers, he dropped it completely. I think he's forgotten what it is and what to use it for. Whew!

Finnegan is my homeboy

Finnegan has always been the friendliest cat to Jack. He was attentive when Jack was a new born and cried. He watches over him while I feed him in the chair. He tries to cuddle with him when we're playing on the floor.

Jack doesn't cuddle so much on the floor. Instead, he tries to wiggle his way to Finn and bury his head in his fur. In turn, when Jack is belly-side up, Finn reaches over and 'kisses' Jack's head.

Play Date

Happy hours used to consist of friends, food and beverages after a long week of work. While those gatherings still pop up once in a while, a new type of party exists--play dates. Baby Ruth (in the stripes below) invited Jack to her house for a little R&R with some of her friends. Shy at first, Jack warmed up more once in the jumparoo.

Wakie, Wakie. Rise and Shine!

Mornings are my favorite time with Jack. When I wake him up in the morning, it takes him a few minutes of stretching and eye rubbing before he finally opens his peepers and gives me a good morning smile.

You'll notice that many of his pictures are of him in the car seat. In the mornings, everything he does is adorable. I find it so hard to leave him and have to give him a dozen kisses before taking him to Rhonda's.
